Business Solutions
BB&D has developed a wide variety of complex mission critical solutions that include insurance (short term and life),home loan servicing, treasury dealing, investment research, payments, financial modelling, unit trust funds administration, risk management and Basel II, customer loyalty, electronic funds transfer, trade finance and telecommunications and billing applications. These solutions have been implemented internationally as well as in the local marketplace.

Technology
BB&D is technology agnostic, and uses the right tools for the project in question. The company was formed at the start of the personal computer revolution and has adapted itself to the various paradigm shifts during the past twenty years such as downsizing, client server, rightsizing, 4GL, Case tools, fat client, object orientation, thin client, e-everything, smart client and SOA.
Solutions are developed using the applicable tools for the task. Some of the tools include: C#, C, C++, Java and J2EE for Application Servers; Visual Basic, Visual C++ for front end components; DB2, Oracle, PostgresSQL and SQL Server for databases; Microsoft .Net framework, objects and services including.Net & C#.
Black Economic Empowerment
Barone, Budge & Dominick is a "Black Empowered" organisation as per the ICT Charter, with an Empowerdex B-BBEE Rating of Level 4 contributor. Our ongoing strategy includes interventions to support the transformation process in South Africa, in support of broad-based black economic empowerment. This is demonstrated across a number of criteria, including:

BB&D have recently finalised a BEE deal in which 35.75% shareholding of BB&D is now owned by Sphere Holdings - a black owned organisation (from 1 March 2007).

BB&D has a policy of purchasing goods and services from black owned or empowered companies wherever possible.
- Training & Development
BB&D engage 20 black Learners per annum in our ongoing learnership program. A number of these learners have been employed by BB&D, the remainder have all been employed by large corporates.
- Employees and Management
BB&D is committed to growing the number of black employees and management. BB&D has recently appointed two black executives internally. The Board of BB&D includes 4 black Directors, one of which is female, of the total of 7 Directors.
- Corporate Social Responsibility
BB&D supports the following programmes: Bring a girl-child to work day; new computer centre for Aha-Thuto Secondary School; Action for the Blind School; Girls & Boys Town SA; Door of Hope; Thandanani House of Refuge, Oliver's House and SA Medical Foundation to name a few.
